Fairhope is a city located within Baldwin County, Alabama; according to the official US Census conducted in 2000 the population of the city was over 12,000. It is currently a principal city of the Daphne-Fairhope-Foley Micropolitan Statistical Area, which currently includes all of Baldwin County and encompasses the population of all three cities and their outlying areas.

The city itself was founded by the Fairhope Industrial Association in 1894 as a single tax colony. The idea of the city was to completely eliminate all disincentives for productive use of land, which would in turn retain the value of the land for the community. The purpose of the city ultimately failed miserably, though the city, after switching to a model that most other American cities operate on, continues to operate today.

During the summer months the average daily high in the city hits around 90 degrees or so, with average lows often dropping down to around 72 degrees or so overnight. During the winter months, average daily highs hit around 50 degrees, with overnight lows typically dropping into the low 40’s.
